About Tim Ford
In late 2009 I made an attempt to paint a picture using acrylics. My first picture was a small practice picture of a swan on a small stream filled with colorful reflections of foliage and a red flowered bush hanging above the water. My first attempt although rough was life changing. I was inspired by the mix of colors that created an image of water with depth and movement, and light contrasting with shadows.
At that time I began to develop the skill of applying brush to canvas, mixing colors, and self-teaching through various painting challenges. Early on I developed a fascination with the play of light on the canvas. As I progressed so did my confidence and in the spring of 2011 I participated in my first art show in DeLand Florida.
I have always been fascinated with the subtle play of light in a painting. I typically paint in the shadows with cool colors first, then carefully I add in the warmer light colors. I am now permanently living in Murphy North Carolina which has sparked inspiration and appreciation of the local surroundings, seasonal changes, and the local culture.
